Pest control charges to rise

THE cost of dealing with troublesome squirrels, bed bugs and munching moths is set to increase in Wiltshire.

As part of its budget proposals for 2014/15, Wiltshire Council’s Cabinet has recommended householders should pay more for calling out its pest controllers. The price of tackling squirrels over two weeks will go up from £72 to £74.

Exterminating three bedrooms of carpet moths will cost £80 instead of £70, while the price of dealing with bed bugs in a two-bedroom house will jump to £160 from £150.

New bedbug surveys will cost £60. Charges for rodent control are also set to bite homeowners, with a £2 rise to £60, which will cover four visits.

There are no increases in the cost of dealing with ants and fleas, mink or wasps, but the price of expertise in swatting cluster flies from two loft spaces will go up from £70 to £80.

Commercial premises are subject to separate hourly charges.
